Literature Text

Four days. It's been four days since you’ve been kidnapped and since Arthur died. Your voice still didn’t come back. It was so weird. Everything felt okay to you. Nothing hurt. You throat never hurt or anything either.

Every night your dreams were filled with terrifying visions. First, flashbacks of Arthur's death. Then total darkness and familiar voices. Your own as well as Gilbert's, Francis's, and Antonio's. Then towards the end, Arthur's voice was added to the mess. Every night it started to get clearer. First, muffled voices, barely whispers. The second night, the voices became clearer. You could only make out the tone of the voices, enough to tell who they belonged to. The third night you were able to make out what Arthur was saying. You wondered if it was the memory Arthur mentioned in passing before he…

Part of you wished it was the memory. The other part wished it was just a dream. Another part, deep down inside of you, was absolutely terrified to remembering what had happened. You also wished that this whole kidnapping charade was just a dream and you would wake up screaming in bed next to Arthur. When your screams would wake Arthur up and when he was comforting you, you would confess the truth about your feeling for him.

But it wasn’t a dream.

Your nightmare was your reality.

Arthur's POV

"It's been four damned days." Arthur muttered.

"Their working as fast as they can." Alfred said.

"I know. I'm just antsy. You know that." Arthur replied.

"I know."

The two stood in silence, staring at the setting sun of the fourth day. The mast was still broken, bent over the deck, and the hull and deck of the boat still looked like Swiss cheese, all though, not as much now as it did days ago. While looking at the sunset, Arthur noticed a silhouette coming closer to the ship. When it got close enough, Arthur was able tell that it was. It was a ship. A British Naval Ship.

"Damn it. Not again." Arthur muttered.

"Not again, what?" Alfred asked.

Arthur pointed at the approaching ship. When Alfred saw it, his eyes widened.

"Maybe if we act natural, they won't think anything of it?" Alfred suggested.

"Tch." Arthur said. "If my wound were healed we would be able to fight." He looked at his first mate. "Acting natural seems like out best bet. Tell the crew."

Alfred nodded and walked over to the working crew members. Not long after he was gone, the naval ship approached Arthur's; angling itself so the two ships were parallel to each other. One of the men on the other ship came to the railing. He called over to Arthur.

"Ahoy there!" He said. "What happened here?"

"Just a little run in with some pirates!" Arthur called back.

"Do you need any help?" He called.

Arthur was surprised that the navy was offering to help. But then he realized that the mast had fallen and because of that, his flag wasn’t seen. "No. We have it handled here!"

"I insist! It'll get don’t faster with help. Sides…" He paused and a new man walked up.

He had long, shoulder length blonde hair and green eyes. Arthur recognized this man.

"I have a few questions to ask you, MR. Arthur Kirkland." Arthur realized who it was. It was Vash Zwingli, your almost husband.

Arthur tch'd. He should have known that he would come looking for you at some point. Arthur couldn’t do anything but stand back and let them board the ship. He hated that he couldn’t fight. Not in his sorry state.

When Vash was aboard the ship he glared at Arthur, pushing him back by his neck against the door to the interior of the ship. "Where is she?"

Arthur coughed and winced in pain. "Who?" He replied, he could feel his wound reopen and blood start seeping through his white shirt.

"You know exactly who, Mr. Kirkland." Vash said angrily.

"That’s Captain Kirkland to you." Arthur said, spitting blood to the side. "And she was kidnapped."

"Obviously, by you!" Vash shouted.

Arthur sighed. "I mean again. How do you think my ship ended up like your cheese?"

Vash looked Arthur over. "I don’t believe you." He turned to some of his own crew. "Search the ship! Report to me if anything has been found!"

The crew said "aye captain" in unison and went off.

"You're not going to find her." Arthur said.

"Yo! Arthur! What's going on?" Alfred ran up to the two men. "Who's that?"

"Alfred, this is (name)'s almost husband, a wanker named Vash Zwingli." Arthur replied to his first mate. "He's searching the ship for her."

"But why? Didn’t you tell her that the Bad Touch Trio has her?" Alfred replied.

"I didn’t get that far. He decided to search the ship instead."

"Wait. The BTT has her?" Vash said, the reality of what happened sinking in. "The same BTT that got her three years ago?"

Arthur nodded. "Yes. But I wonder why you assume I know what happened three years ago?"

Vash shook his head. "Never mind." He glared at the two men.

"Would you so kindly let me down and get my brother to reapply bandages to my wound before I bleed out?" Arthur said.

Vash looked down as Arthur slowly reddening shirt. "So it is true. The BTT really did take her." He stepped away from Arthur, taking his arm from his neck.

Arthur turned to Alfred and told him to get Peter and tell him to bring the bandages. "Yes it's true, that’s what I've been bloody trying to tell you."  He walked over to a crate and took off his red and black coat and started taking off the blood stained shirt. "Gilbert Beilschmidt gave me this." He said, motioning to his wound that ran from his shoulder to his hip. "Damn well near killed me."

Vash was silent. Moments later, Peter and Alfred walked over to Arthur and Vash. He got to work putting salve and new bandages on the wound.

"I propose a deal, Vash Zwingli."  Arthur said while Peter was working.

"What would that be, Mr. Kirkland?"  Vash said.

"You help me get (name) back and get my revenge on the BTT and in return, you can take (name) home and I receive diplomatic immunity from piracy." Arthur said.

Vash looked over Arthur. He hesitated a minute before he nodded.

"So we have an accord?" Arthur held out his hand.

"We do." Vash took it.

Arthur grinned. After he got back at Beilschmidt, he planned to double cross Vash and take you away again. Like hell he would ever give you up for anything. Hell, he almost died trying to keep you here with him on the ship in the first place.

Peter finished applying the new bandages and handed Arthur a new shirt. He put it on and draped his coat over his shoulders, running a hand through his hair.

"Before we set off, we need to fix my ship."

Arthur was one step closer to getting you back. This was a good day.

I'll be on my way soon (name). You'll be back in my arms in no time.
